But if you are middle aged with a love for firefighting history and equipment, appreciate a well curated space and can tolerate the presence of families, this is the place for you.

This museum is set up for old men fascinated by firefighting equipment, not for children. Curators will busy themselves by skulking around and hissing at your children to be quiet. They'll even surprise you with a loud announcement over the PA system to, "use your inside voice". As it is, everything is mixed together making for a confusing and frustrating experience for children and exhausting for their parents. If they cared enough to make it more kid friendly they'd make a few relatively simple changes. They should take all the exhibits that the kids can touch and put them in one room. Or they could get rid of the children's exhibits and advertise the fact that small children are not welcome.

A wonderful place, with a lot of great equipment and information about the history of firefighting. They offer a variety of services including school tours, remote/video classes as hands on projects for young children. This museum is great for all age groups!

Me and my boyfriend enjoyed it alot. Very nice workers and easy to find. Will be back with the dogs soon♡

They are happy to take money from you at the gift store after they harangue you and your children during your visit.

Unfortunately if your child happens to be tall for his or her age they will not be permitted to utilize most of the children's activities despite the activities being age appropriate. Sadly the age of the child will not be taken into consideration. Parents of tall children skip this museum-tall kids will not be allowed to participate in activities with their same age peers.

They have some amazing historical pieces for adults to enjoy, but it comes with a very patronizing attitude which ruins any sense of enjoyment, particularly for accompanying children. They make you watch a torturous orientation video on the way in, then harangue you throughout to be quiet, use your inside voice, etc. Visited with a 3.5 yo, we were literally the only ones there at opening time, and they forced her to watch a second orientation video before doing a simple children’s fire safety obstacle course. If that wasn’t enough, they then watched her like a hawk ensuring she did all obstacles in the specified order, and made us sit through a forced debrief afterwards. It really was hilarious.

My family and I will return when our kids have graduated from college.
